Celina
- HR working student

Celina, how long have you been at collaboration Factory and why did you join the company?

I have been working as an HR working student at collaboration Factory since November 2019. I’ve recently started to study business education and actually didn't want to take a working student job yet, as I wanted to settle in at university first. However, our HR team lead Anke, who I know from my hometown, convinced me very quickly to join the company. Now I am incredibly happy to be part of #bestteam.

In which field are you working and what does your typical day look like?

I have been working with Anke and Annika in the HR team from the very beginning. Since I started here, our team has grown fast, there are already five of us now. At first, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to balance my studies and my work and to fully commit to both. Collaboration Factory offers a flexible working scheme, so this concern was totally unnecessary. I even have the possibility to work remotely if I can't manage to work in the office because of classes. Even in stressful exam periods I can work part-time and have a great practical variety to the university.

My typical day consists mainly of recruiting, which means that I work a lot with our HR tool and coordinate application processes. I invest a lot of time talking to my colleagues and the applicants to make the recruiting process as pleasant and smoothly as possible for everyone. I also take care of employee data maintenance in our tool and more specific topics, such as finding a company fitness program.

It's great to be part of such a great team and I really enjoy the work. We always divide our topics individually, depending on which activities you enjoy most and where the strengths of the individual person are. As well, I enjoy spending my lunch break with my colleagues in our beautiful kitchen in the Munich office.

What’s the most challenging aspect of your role? What’s most rewarding?

The intense part of my work often is the coordination with colleagues and applicants. There are usually many people involved and it can be challenging to find common dates.

I am proud when we were able to create a fast and pleasant recruiting process for the applicants and they remember us well afterwards. I'm also always happy when new colleagues settle in well and feel at home in our company, especially when I’ve contributed to that. I enjoy working in our #bestteam.

As a working student, how are you involved in the team and the company in general? What responsibilities do you have?

Working as a working student at collaboration Factory is a pleasure because there are no differences between a full-time employee and a working student. Every employee has the opportunity to participate in all events, from the company weekly to internal activities such as our "cplace coffee date" to the Christmas party. Due to these events, you quickly become part of the cplace family. This is also strengthened by the fact that we as working students can ask our colleagues for support at any time, no matter what the topic is - whether questions about studies or cplace.

collaboration Factory gives me many opportunities for further development, as I am given more responsibility every week. I keep learning every day because I can do many tasks myself, even if they are more complex. In addition, you can always contribute new ideas and suggestions and in this way create new projects yourself.

For me it is also very exciting to experience theoretical content that I learn at university in practice and how it is implemented in the company. This is possible because our company is very transparent. This helps me tremendously to develop and learn for my professional life later on.

Since you work in HR, what tips do you have for people, who would like to join us in your team?

My advice to anyone who is not sure whether they can manage work alongside their studies: take advantage of this opportunity! You get a lot of great insights and collaboration Factory makes it very easy to combine study and job.

And to everyone who starts at our company: Be open, take part in as many events as possible and use our "coffee dates" to get to know the #bestteam and feel comfortable as part of it. And ask, ask, ask!

You engage in a lot of social work in your leisure time. Can you tell us more about it? How is collaboration Factory involved in corporate social responsibility?

I spent some time in Ghana, West Africa, after graduating from high school and volunteered at a very special school for street children, the Universal Wonderful Street Academy. The headmaster himself grew up on the streets and takes care of all the children. Through his commitment, the children have a home at the school where they can sleep in safe rooms - all without paying school fees.

During my stay, I spent a lot of time with the children, playing games with them, sewing together in the evenings, reading books, laughing together and giving them the attention and love they rarely get otherwise. In times when there were too few teachers, I also hold lessons. Every day was excitingly different and every day unforeseen things happened. The children gave back so much and showed me what is truly important in life. This special time has had a great impact on me, and I still try to support the school and give my godchild the education she needs.

Since such projects are very close to my heart it is even more wonderful that collaboration Factory supports such projects with donations. Our Marketing team lead Andrea even runs her own project in Tanzania. Furthermore, every year our company plans and organizes a Social Day, where we support a specific project and get involved themselves. Last year, for example, our employees helped refugees by making the garden of an establishment child-friendly and adding a playground and hut as well as a herb and vegetable garden.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

If I could have a superpower, I'd love to be able to teleport. Then I could easily switch places and countries whenever I wanted to, see as much of the world as possible and learn from different people and cultures!

Join the best team!
